All so different but equally attractive are the waterfalls in our Trio tour. Seljalandsfoss waterfall has always been a favorite amongst travelers in Iceland. Falling 65 meters (213 ft.) the waterfall somehow manages to be mighty and gentle at the same time. Over thousands of years the waterfall has carved the rock wall behind it making it possible to walk behind the current. The view from behind the powerful stream is fantastic and combining it with the soft drizzle covering everything is quite an experience. Only a few meters away, hidden in the near-by mountain cliffs, another waterfall resides. Gljúfrabúi, or “cliff-dweller” waterfall is a peaceful place to visit before driving to the next destination. Skógafoss waterfall is big and powerful. Approaching the vigorous stream is challenging as the 60 meter (200 ft.) high and 25 meter (80 ft.) wide constant flow crashes down directly in front of you. Hiking up a stairway to the viewing platform above not only gives a new perspective but also a great view over Iceland’s vast southern lowlands.
